Boot center at +1 or +2, if you used to forward mounting from past skis go forward I’m at +4 and Pep goes with +6.

      Seth,
I was wondering if you make any mods to your Full Tilt zeppas/bootboards. They have quite a bit of shape(arch and ramp) to them compared to other brands and I’m having some issues with my fore-aft balance. Should I avoid using custom footbeds with Full Tilts? Any advice is appreciated.

      Thanks very much,
      Mark

    4. Seth December 30th, 2010 at 2:29 pm

No I don’t do any mod’s. The liner forms enough for my feet, but you could easily grind away what you want for a better fit.

      Hey Seth,
I was wondering what kind of gaitor. I have a problem with mine getting soaked and making my face colder.

      Thanks,
      Aaron

Hey Seth, looking forward to seeing “The Ordinary Skier” when it’s released. I read that you’re hiking for your turns during this project and wanted to know what binding system(s) you’re relying on?

      Thanks.

      Shawn

      I use a metal 916 with a trekker.

      Hey seth,
I was looking into buying the D3 seth helmet, wanted to know if it’s getting a new design for next year or not.. just to see if i should wait till next season since it’s more expensive than my skis… and also wanted to know what a man has to do to ski with u for even 1 run!!
      thanks
      ur tha man!

Seth what’s up? Skiing sucks today so here is what I am spending my time on.

Did you know that if you add up all the msrp prices of the gear on your blog it’s over $3,000 bucks? This doesn’t include essentials like, skins, beacon, bindings, and under-layers. The point I’m making is that skis should not cost $700 or a jacket $500. “Ordinary Skiers” cannot afford prices like this. Most of these companies only care about one thing, MONEY, not skiing. Skiing is too pure for all this consumerism.

I would seriously like to know your position on this.

    11. Seth Morrison February 8th, 2011 at 12:00 pm

3 layer water proof materials cost $. Thats why they are expensive. Gore tex is no different in price, as they say “You get what you pay for”. I have no control over costs of equipment.

    12. Seth Morrison February 8th, 2011 at 12:04 pm

No changes for the next seasons helmet. As for skiing a run with me you should have come to summer camps at whistler or when I tried to do my own camp years ago.

      Seth

Just got back from a 10-day trip to Austria and had 4 massive powder days. On the last day I decided to give my K2 Apache’s a rest and tried the ObSETHed ski’s - apart from my Wedding in December it was the best day of my life. I had so much fun on them as we dived over the back of the mountain - a truly awesome ski and surprisingly good on piste as well.

So much so I’ve just bought myself a pair and I pick them up on Friday - what are the best binding’s to use with them?

      Cheers

Hey I just got the 169 obsetheds for a backcountry ski…I’m not throwing threes or skiing switch, I just wanted the ski for E.vail and hippie trees etc. I’m 5′6″ and 120lbs and want to mount at the traditional line. Do you think there is enough tail for small hucks and skiing hard at this mounting point or would you still recommend a more forward mount?
Thanks and the ski is awesome I demoed it in a 179 and loved it!

Seth, first, i have to tell you how speechless you left all of us freeriders here in Kosovo (in case u’re wondering, its a very small country in the south-eastern Europe)with your movie The Ordinary Skier… Trully awesome…
I just bought my new pair of 2010/2011 Obsethed (i like the graphics more), 189cm with Marker Griffon 13.
I am a advanced to professional skier, like to ski pow but most i enjoy switching in trees as well as big jumps. What would be the best mounting position for my new skis?
P.S. U’re an icon to us all here, so we all hope we will have u as a guest on one of our mountains one day… Peace!

      Hi, here’s an odd question for you;
Did your first pair signature skis have twin tip? (those 204cm ones)

    19. Seth Morrison November 10th, 2011 at 7:44 am

No twin tips in the K2 line then, they came out a few years after that ski.

      Hi Seth,

Are the Full Tilt boots stiff enough (more laterally than flex wise) to be used for masters racing (GS and Slalom)? Tired of my feet being in pain for the sake of a plug boot. Yeah, you get to be a pus*sy when you’re old (46)… If so, any particular model?

    22. Seth Morrison February 6th, 2012 at 10:56 am

The “First Chair” is the one you want as the stiffest. You can get the other higher end models and upgrade them to a 10 tongue. Thats how you make them stiffer. The cuffs are the same on all the higher end boot only difference is tongue stiffness and some liner differences.

The boot is more full flex since there are no rivets holding cuff to lower, just the side cant bolts. This was a popular boot in the 80’s and 90’s for World Cup Speed events, for slalom and GS they would switch to a stiffer brand boot. You notice with very stiff boots the precision and responsiveness when being forward on the firm course conditions. I don’t think you’ll find “comfort” in a boot like that. That being said, a Full Tilt boot will take some time getting used to coming from from a stiff race boot. If you need more stiffness than the tongue provides, rivet cuff to lower. Here is a link below. Backcountry.com has one left in a larger size, or maybe there is a shop near you.

    23. Doug February 7th, 2012 at 11:57 am

Thanks Seth for the great response. The shops here in Spokane are pretty limited, so I’ll try and find a pair somewhere to demo. I know the Flexons were worn by world cup skiers back in the day. My Head Raptors are only 120 flex now, so maybe the flex of the #10 would be okay.
